A man who fell to his death in a cliff diving accident is known as a professional footballer

A man who died in a tragic cliff diving accident under the watchful eye of his family has been identified as a former professional footballer.

Mourad Lamrabatte was on vacation with his wife and children in Santa Ponsa, near Magaluf, when he decided to jump from a huge cliff 35 meters into the water below.

In the video shot by his own partner, Ram Rabat can be seen looking at the cliff face before falling off the cliff end.

The stunt ended in tragedy when the 31-year-old fell to his death after colliding with rocks on his way down the mountain.

In the clip, you can hear his wife screaming “oh my god” as she and her children watch them helplessly.

The identity of the man was still unknown when the moving video was released, but it was later confirmed that he was actually Mourad Lamrabatte.

Ram Rabat played professional football for the Dutch team, SBV Vitesse, and only recently quit.

When the news of Ram Rabat’s tragic death came, a group of people, including his old club, paid tribute online.

“Vettes has received the tragic news of the tragic death of Murad Ramrabat,” the Eredivisie side said in a statement on social media.

“The former Waiters striker has just turned 31.

“He was wearing the club’s colors in the 2010/2011 season when he was part of the Under 23’s team that won the Under 23 Cup that season.

“In July 2010, he scored in a first-team exhibition match.”

A club spokesman added: “Witters hopes Murad’s family and friends will be strong enough to deal with their huge loss.”

An autopsy found that Ramrabat had not died directly from his injuries, but had drowned in a semi-conscious state.

It is understood local police are still investigating the incident.
