With five batsmen remaining, Australia crossed the finish line in 35.2 overs, achieving their victory target of 210 runs. The individual with the most runs scored was Josh Inglis, who amassed 58, followed by Mitchell Marsh, who scored fifty or more on 52 of 51 deliveries. Forty runs were scored by Marnus Labuschagne, 31 by Glenn Maxwell, and 20 by Marcus Stoinis.

Dunith Wellalage and Dilshan Madushanka each took three wickets, whereas Mitchell Marsh was run out. Adam Zampa was awarded the player of the match award. Following their successful toss and decision to bat first, Pothum Nisanka and Kusal Perera established a strong foundation with an opening partnership of 125 runs. None of the Sri Lankan batsmen were able to make a significant contribution after losing the first opener for 125 and the second for 157; the team was out for 209 runs in 43.3 overs.

Pothum Nisanka scored 61 runs, while Kusal Perera amassed 78 ranks. With a contribution of 25 runs, Charith Asalanka was the only batsman to offer some resistance among the remaining group. One Sri Lankan batsman was run out while Adam Zampa secured four wickets, Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc each contributed two, and Glenn Maxwell secured one.
