During the 10 Pakistan Super League (PSL) encounter against Quetta Gladiators at Pindi Cricket Stadium on Saturday, Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam created an unwelcome record.
Babar topped former Zalmi wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal and Lahore Qalandars skipper Shaheen Afridi to become among the list of hitters with the most ducks in PSL history.
With 12, Islamabad United’s all-rounder Imad Wasim holds the record for the most ducks in PSL history; followed by Peshawar Zalmi’s Wahab Riaz with 10.
Zalmi was batting in chase of 217 runs set by Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League opener in Rawalpindi when this news was reported.
Batting first, the Gladiators had 216-3 with fitties from skipper Saud Shakeel and Finn Allen in addition to contributions from Hassan Nawaz, Rilee Rossouw, and Kusal Mendis.
Zalmi responded with early losses as Mohammad Amir dismissed Babar Azam for a duck and Abrar Ahmed removed the wickets of Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Mohammad Haris in his first over.
The thirty-year-old made a loose shot from Amir’s pass, and Rilee Rossouw grabbed the ball straight into her hands, giving the Gladiators a vital edge from the outset.
