Former New Zealand wicketkeeper batsman and well-known commentator Ian Smith offered his opinion on the head-to–head comparison of contemporary batting talents Babar Azam and Virat Kohli, declaring the latter is winning.
There seems to be no end to the argument raging in the cricket world about Babar against Virat for the past six years. Over the years, the two batters achieved remarkable success and have been the pillar of their respective clubs’ batting systems.
From supporters to professionals, no one has been able to stop their self from offering an opinion on this contentious issue with former New Zealand wicketkeeper Ian Smith joining the long-running discussion last week.
“They [Pakistan] challenge Virat Kohli, king, as baby azam versus king. But of late, Virat is winning that head-to–head,” said Smith in his piece trying to explain the causes of Pakistan cricket’s problems.
Key reasons behind Pakistan’s recent downturn in the game were also noted by the eminent commentator as lack of earning possibilities for Pakistan players and inconsistency in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
“Pakistan players cannot participate in the IPL and earn those riches, or in fact many of the leagues around the world which are essentially Indian owned,” Ian Smith said.
“Pakistan cricket is a turbulent situation. Between the board, the administration, the selectors, coaches, and players, they have had more personnel changes than you could possibly find a stick for.
Over a few beers at any level, dare you and your friends; name the last ten Pakistan Captains; I’ll guess you’ll only have to go back seven years or so to line them all. It is a real whirl-around door for world cricket.
