Cristiano Ronaldo leaves a huge hint that he will stay at Manchester United after breaking his silence on Erik Ten Hag

Cristiano Ronaldo has suggested he stay at Manchester United next season.

Ronaldo, 37, is entering the final year of his current contract and after a disappointing season at Old Trafford, there have been suggestions he could move elsewhere in the summer.

However, after breaking his silence on incoming manager Eric Ten Haag, the Portuguese has now suggested that he stay with the Red Devils.

The Dutchman will take over Manchester United at the end of the season after signing a three-year deal, with an option for another year.

Ronaldo says he is excited about the prospect of working with Ten Hag, who recently won his third Dutch Eredivisie title with Ajax.

“I know he’s done a great job at Ajax and he’s an experienced coach, but we have to give him time,” Ronaldo told Manchester United’s official website.

“Things have to change the way he wants to. Please, all of Manchester United will succeed, so I wish you all the best.

“We are all happy and excited about [the arrival], not just as players but as fans.

“We have to believe we can win the title next year.”

Ronaldo scored 24 goals in 39 games in his first season back in English football.

But he will end his campaign without a trophy for the first time since the 2009-10 season.

If Ronaldo stays at Manchester United next year, it will be his first season without the Champions League.

United are currently sixth in the Premier League table, eight points behind the top four, with only one game left of the season – away to Crystal Palace on the final day.

Manchester United interim manager Ralph Rangnick believes Ronaldo will remain at Old Trafford despite the club’s poor season.

When asked to comment on Ronaldo’s wave for fans after United’s final home game of the season, Rangnick told Stadium Astro: “I don’t think it should be a goodbye wave.

“He has one year left on his contract and as far as I know he will be here next season.”
