Saim Ayub, a left-handed opening batter, and Khurram Shahzad, a right-arm fast bowler, have earned their inaugural Test call-ups for the forthcoming three-match series against Australia. Faheem Ashraf, a pace bowling all-rounder, is returning to the Test squad after his last appearance during England’s tour of Pakistan in late 2022.
Furthermore, Mir Hamza, a left-arm pacer with an impressive record of 32 wickets at 20.88 in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2023-24, and Mohammad Wasim Jnr, a right-arm pacer, are making their way back into the squad. Both were part of Pakistan’s squad during New Zealand’s tour of Pakistan from December 2022 to January 2023. Chief Selector Wahab Riaz highlighted, “The squad has been assembled considering the challenging Australian conditions. We’ve bolstered our pace bowling resources, aligning with the pitch conditions, to grant the management flexibility in team combinations across all three cricket Test matches.”
