India beat England by 100 runs. England’s players failed to score against India’s strong bowling attack, and they could only score 129 runs before being bowled out in the 35th over. England got off to a good start when Dawid Malan and Jonny Bairstow put together 30 runs for the first wicket. However, India took control when Jasprit Bumrah removed Malan (14) and Joe Root (0) in a row. The English chase was then slowed down even more by Mohammed Shami’s quick wickets of Bairstow (14) and Stokes (0).

Kuldeep Yadav made things worse for England when he bowled a crazy fastball that hit Jos Buttler in the head and dropped the reigning champions to 52/5 in the 16th over. Moeen Ali (15) and Liam Livingstone, an all-rounder, then tried to hold down the run chase. During their 29-run stand, the two batted carefully. Then Shami struck again, stopping England from getting back on track. Then Chris Woakes joined Livingstone. They could only assemble a measly 17-run partnership before they fell in the next two overs. With a score of 27 off of 46 balls, Livingstone stayed England’s top scorer. Before Liam Livingstone made a great catch off Adil Rashid, Rohit Sharma played a careful innings of 87 runs off 101 balls. He hit ten fours and 3 sixes.
