Kylian Mbappe says he has “almost” decided whether to stay in Paris Saint-Germain or leave French champions Real Madrid.
“Yeah, almost,” he replied when asked if he had made a choice after winning the Player of the Season award in Paris on Sunday.
He added that waiting for the 23-year-old player to move to the Spanish capital or stay in Paris Saint-Germain to help them in their long-term bid to win the Champions League is “almost over”.
He intends to “announce” his decision ahead of the French game against Denmark on June
3.He declined to give any further information, despite ample opportunity to do so at the awards ceremony, thanking “Paris Saint-Germain for allowing me to be here, my teammates and the coach.”
He added: “My story goes on, I still win, I’m never satisfied, which is good.”
Also present at the awards dinner was his captain Paris Saint-Germain Marquinhos, whose only comment on the issue that kept PSG fans and their Real Madrid counterparts up at night was: “I hope the next season can win this trophy again. ”
Last week, a French newspaper reported that the French World Cup winner had agreed in principle to stay at Paris Saint-Germain for a further three years.
This was quickly denied by his mother.
Mbappe has made no secret of his desire to play a day for Real Madrid, which has reached the Champions League final after their 35th Spanish title.
But Paris Saint-Germain’s galloping out of Real Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League has annoyed their die-hard fans, who are struggling to retain their greatest asset.
