PSL 10: Islamabad Bowlers Restrict Multan to 168

Islamabad United’s disciplined bowling attack helped to limit home side Multan Sultans to 168/5 in the 13th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 here at the Multan Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

Bat first, the host side started their innings cautiously, with their in-form opening duo of skipper Mohammad Rizwan knitting 51 runs before the latter fell victim to Mohammad Nawaz in the seventh over.

With two fours and as many sixes against toppers United, Yasir, who played an innings-worth knock against Lahore Qalandars at the same venue on Tuesday, could only muster 29 runs off 17 deliveries.

Skipper Rizwan then revealed a 65-run second wicket partnership with Usman till United counterpart Shadab Khan bowled him.

Rizwan just managed to hit three boundaries out of his wary 36 off 37 deliveries.

The Sultans then suffered two further blows to their batting campaign as Michael Bracewell and Iftikhar Ahmed passed away from little contributions.

On the other side, Usman had an excruciating end to his rebellious knock when he was run out in the penultimate over. Comprising four fours and as many sixes, his 40-ball 61 remained the greatest score for the Sultans.

With a quick 13-run cameo from just six deliveries and one four and a six, middle-order hitter Kamran Ghulam then provided the Sultans a late push towards their total. For United, Shadab, Nawaz, Holder and Riley Meredith each picked one wicket.
