PSL 9: Iftikhar Ahmed leads Multan Sultans to a 159-run total against Islamabad United. At the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on Monday, Multan Sultans set a target of 160 runs for Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 9.

The 2021 PSL winners were headed for an early collapse, but Iftikhar Ahmed‘s heroics later in the order helped them reach a respectable score. In the final overs, Iftikhar demonstrated his skill as the 33-year-old wrapped up his brief cameo by hitting three fours and as many sixes to score 32 runs on 20 balls.

Batting first, the Sultans avoided a severe blow when Islamabad’s pacer Naseem Shah removed their captain, Muhammad Rizwan, but the 31-year-old was given a second chance because the 20-year-old had gone beyond the boundary.

But in the second over, David Willey and the in-form Yasir Khan were removed by Imad Wasim, leaving the Sultans with little room.
