Saud, Abrar fined after Quetta Gladiators vs. Islamabad United eliminator. Quetta Gladiators’ spinner Abrar Ahmed and opener Saud Shakeel were fined during their Friday night match against Islamabad United at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi.

Both players were penalized 5% of their match fees for Level 1 PSL Code of Conduct violations. Abrar violated PSL Code of Conduct Article 2.4, “Disobeying an umpire’s instruction during the match”.

19th over

In the 19th over of Islamabad United’s batting, Abrar rolled the ball all over the pitch while fielding despite being told not to by the umpires, the PCB claimed in a press statement.

Another instance in the same match found Saud in violation of Article 2.5 of the PSL Code of Conduct, which prohibits using language, acts, or gestures that denigrate or potentially elicit a hostile reaction from a batter upon removal.

After dismissing United’s Salman Ali Agha in the 12th over, Saud moved near to him and made comments that may have irritated him. Both players admitted guilt and accepted match referee Mohammad Javed’s punishment.

On-field umpires

“On-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Chris Gaffaney imposed the charges.” Islamabad United beat Quetta Gladiators by 39 runs. The result sent United to the second Eliminator against Babar Azam’s Peshawar Zalmi tomorrow at the same stadium.

The Gladiators lost 39 runs in their 175-run chase. The chasing team was shut out from the start by Islamabad’s bowlers. Quetta lost five wickets for 16 runs in the first five overs while chasing the target.

Imad took three wickets, Naseem two, Obey McCoy, Hunain Shah, and Faheem Ashraf one. Despite a hesitant start, Islamabad found the rhythm and hit boundaries batting first. Six boundaries helped Martin Guptill score 56 off 47 deliveries for the two-time PSL winners. Next came Salman Ali Agha, who scored 31 runs off 21 balls.
